The Academy of Healthcare Science is seeking applications from expert clinical scientists to apply for a fast track programme that will allow them to join the Higher Specialist Science Register (HSSR).

The Academy's Early Implementer programme will enable a small number of clinical scientists to achieve a certificate of equivalence, meaning they are able to demonstrate how their existing skills, knowledge and experience are equivalent to someone who has undertaken the five-year Higher Specialist Scientist Training (HSST) course.

To register for the project, individuals are required to send an email by Sunday 6 September 2015. The closing date for full applications is 18 October 2015. To find out more, please visit the Academy for Healthcare Science website.

Background to the HSST and the HSSR

Higher Specialist Scientist Training (HSST) is a five-year training programme underpinned by a doctoral level academic programme, aimed at training clinical scientists to take on the role of consultant clinical scientists, supporting them to become the future leaders and innovators in healthcare science.

The Higher Specialist Science Register (HSSR) is operated by the AHCS. Eligibility to apply for entry on to the HSSR is open to clinical scientists who have either completed the HSST or who hold a certificate of equivalence.
