Newlands Community Pharmacy, winners of the carer's award at the annual flu fighter awards, give insight into their win and experience of running a success flu campaign.
This blog is the latest post in the series of case studies from flu fighter teams which highlight the seven areas of good practice. Not only has Newlands Community Pharmacy won a flu fighter award, but they have also participated in the carer friendly pharmacy pilot in 2014/15. The Department of Health funded the pilot with a goal of increasing help for carers in both primary and community settings, and Newland were keen to be involved to make a difference in their local community.
The pharmacy provides flu jabs to those in the local area who are entitled to them on the NHS. Through utilisation of the new flu fighter carer’s resources, they have been able to raise awareness of the importance of vaccination and have improved uptake by more than 150 per cent.
