Monitor and the NHS Trust Development Authority (TDA) have published final guidance on the caps that trusts can pay per hour for agency staff working in the NHS.  The price caps will take effect from midday on Monday 23 November 2015.

The caps will cover workers across all staff groups including doctors, nurses and all other clinical and non-clinical staff.  The price caps do not apply to substantive / permanent staff, bank staff or staff employed by ambulance trusts.

Some of the previously proposed rules have been adjusted in response to feedback received during the consultation period. This includes the exclusion of bank rates from the caps, which reflects feedback given to Monitor and the TDA that this will enable trusts to retain flexibility over bank rates in order to manage the implementation of the price caps.

The price cap rules, along with further information including price cap reference tables and an agency shift rate calculator, are available on the GOV.UK website
