The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) has published an evaluation of the apprenticeship Trailblazer programme.

The report shows how the initiative has been working, as well as highlighting a number of risks.

What is the Trailblazer programme?

The Trailblazer programme was introduced as a part of the move to reform apprenticeships and align them more to industry and sector standards. Groups of employers known as trailblazers have been working together to carry out a number of changes to the design and delivery of apprenticeships. Since the launch, 187 apprenticeship standards have been published and over 160 new standards are in development.
