The second set of flu vaccination uptake figures for the 2015/16 season have been released by Public Health England.

The report shows that between the 1st September and 30 November 2015 more than 420,000 (44.1 per cent) frontline staff have been vaccinated against flu, an increase of 12 per cent since last month’s vaccine uptake report.

Early virological surveillance from the UK shows the flu strain A(H1n1)pdm09 is now the main seasonal flu virus detected this season, and this is well-matched to the vaccine. The flu vaccination is the best form of protection available for frontline staff to protect themselves, colleagues, family and patients.

Here are some of the highlights from the figures:
  • 97 per cent of organisations are making a return of their vaccination uptake figures
  • the highest uptake figure is 81 per cent of all frontline staff vaccinated in one trust
  • the greatest improvement compared to the same time last year is 25.9 per cent by a trust.
