Junior doctors' contract introduced from August 2016

11 / 2 / 2016 7.19am

Secretary of State for Health Jeremy Hunt has announced that the government will phase in the new contract for junior doctors in August 2016.

The announcement was made after the best and final offer by Sir David Dalton was rejected by the BMA's junior doctors' committee, and Sir David advised the government that a negotiated solution was not realistically possible.

The new contract, which has over 100 different points (90 per cent) agreed by the BMA, will now be introduced to junior doctors across England in a phased implementation from August 2016.
