The British Medical Association (BMA) has announced escalated industrial action in April, when junior doctors will withdraw all labour over a two day period.

  • Full withdrawal of labour between the hours of 8am and 5pm on Tuesday 26 and Wednesday 27 April (18 hours in total).

Danny Mortimer, chief executive, NHS Employers said:
“It is truly concerning that the BMA has announced a full junior doctors walk out. This removal of emergency cover by junior doctors is intended to cause maximum disruption to patients and their families in a manner not previously countenanced by any other NHS trade union.  We addressed the majority of the BMA’s concerns in our discussions with them, but they were not prepared to accept our compromise regarding payment on Saturdays.   I urge in the strongest terms the BMA to re-consider their proposed action.”

We will update our industrial action webpages as we find out more.
