The final figure for flu vaccination uptake in frontline healthcare workers for England has been released by Public Health England. The report shows that between 1 September 2015 to 29 February 2016, 50.8 per cent (490,881) of frontline staff received the flu vaccine.

Well done to all our flu teams across England who have done fantastic work this season. See the top performing trusts below and the full table from Public Health England. Although the final figure is slightly lower than last year (50.8 per cent compared to 54.9 per cent),  the flu jab remains the best protection against the flu.

As a result of vaccinating more than half of frontline staff, all flu fighters will have made an impact on winter pressures in trusts, and helped to protect staff, patients and families. We are very proud of all trusts in England who have worked really hard this year to achieve maximum uptake, and the flu fighter team will continue to support trusts to deliver fantastic campaign next year.

Some highlights from the report by Public Health England are:

  • 121 trusts vaccinated more than 50 per cent of their staff
  • 18 trusts achieved an uptake greater than 75 per cent
  • 80 trusts improved on last year's uptake
