NHS Employers has today 30 March issued a new pay circular for medical and dental staff. This version replaces the circular published yesterday 29 March which is now obsolete.
The pay circular informs employers of pay from 1 April 2016 to 31 March 2017, for staff covered by the national medical and dental terms and conditions of service.
This follows the government's response to the Review Body on Doctors and Dentists Remuneration (DDRB). The government has accepted recommendations from the pay review body for:
- a base increase of 1 per cent to national salary scales for directly employed doctors
- an increase of 1 per cent to the maximum and minimum points in the salary range for salaried general medical practitioners
- an increase of 1 per cent to clinical excellence awards, distinction awards and discretionary points
- a non-consolidated payment of 1 per cent of basic earnings to those staff who received a non-consolidated payment of 2 per cent in 2015-16 and who have not since moved to a new pay scale point
Details of the pay award are set out in the circular which can be viewed on our case studies and resources web page.
