Nurses and midwives prepare for revalidation

18 / 3 / 2016 9.09am

By the 1 April 2016, around16,000 nurses and midwives are due to revalidate with the  Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).

This week, the NMC has stated that 60 per cent of nurses and midwives have either started or completed their applications. If you haven't already assessed who in your organisation is required to go through the first round, now is the time to find out.

Nurses and midwives can find out when they are due to revalidate using NMC Online. For those who are not due to revalidate in April, there is nothing preventing early preparation. The NMC has produced a helpful short film which provides a step-by-step guide to the application process for you to show to staff.

More resources and information

As part of the NMC's communications in the run up to the 1 April, it has published a new blog from Jackie Smith, chief executive and registrar. A Twitter chat is scheduled for 24 March from 8-9pm, which will focus on confirmation and the application process. You can download the press release here.

Further information on revalidation is available in our revalidation for nurses and midwives website section.
