Public Health England has launched a new health campaign ‘One You’ which focuses on adults living healthier and for longer.
Modern life has allowed disease like diabetes type 2, stroke, heart disease and cancer to creep into the lives of millions of adults across the nation. Over 70 per cent of these diseases are preventable. Living healthily in mid-life can double your chances of being healthy at 70 and beyond.
Everyday habits and behaviours, such as eating unhealthy, drinking too much, smoking and not being active, are responsible for around 40 per cent of all deaths and costs the NHS more than £11 billion a year.
One You aims to encourage adults across the country to take control of their health and avoid future diseases caused by modern day life. It encourages people to start a conversation, and provides support to lead a healthier lifestyle. The One You website starts with an on-line health quiz – How Are You and provides recommendations based on the results and directs respondents to the appropriate tools and advice to help them take action.
