We have produced a short factsheet to help you understand the changes to the Tier 2 (General) immigration route, which will take place in autumn 2016 and April 2017. The government wants to reduce migration to the UK and these changes will have implications for the recruitment of skilled professionals from outside the European Economic Area (EEA).

This factsheet explains the key changes and will help you to think through the implications for overseas recruitment in the future.

Download the factsheet.

Next steps

The changes will come into effect in two stages, autumn 2016 and April 2017. It is likely that further detail will become available when the government looks to implement the changes into the immigration rules.

Further information

The full ministerial statement of the Tier 2 changes is available on the gov.uk website. We will publish further information when it becomes available on our website and in our weekly NHS Workforce Bulletin.
