Guy’s and St Thomas’ Foundation Trust created a two-day training course entitled a passport to management, to address the increasing pressures on its staff. The project team involved managers, trade unions and HR, to improve employee relation cases.
The trust began the project to address both grievance and disciplinary cases, which were taking too long to reach a conclusion with no clear outcomes - and a high number of appeals.
As a result of the project, the trust has seen a reduction in the time taken to resolve cases, a drop in dissatisfaction from trade unions and an improvement in managers' confidence when making decisions.
