Key changes to vaccination and immunisation 2016/17

NHS Employers and the British Medical Associations' General Practitioners Committee announced changes to the vaccination and immunisation programmes for 2016/17 on 18 February 2016. 

Key changes covered in the guidance document are:
  • the item of service uplift
  • the MenACWY 18 years on 31 August vaccination programme has been expanded to allow for the vaccination of 19 – 25 year olds (non freshers) to be vaccinated on an opportunistic basis
  • the pertussis programme has been expanded to allow for the vaccination of pregnant women from 20 weeks.
