The 2016 Leadership Award winners were presented with their awards during Equality, Diversity and Human Rights Week. Congratulations to the winners and thank you to everyone who submitted entries and took part. 

The awards are an opportunity to celebrate all the hard work that organisations have done to improve or create a more inclusive workplace.

The Inclusive Leader of the Year award

Candidates for the inclusive leader of the year award had to demonstrated significant personal commitment to the diversity and inclusion agenda within their trust, and go above and beyond their role in doing this. Their commitment had to either improve patient experience for under represented groups or communities, or give staff from one of the protected characteristics increased voice or influence.


Winners:
  • Overall winner - Kathryn Mangold (pictured), Lead Nurse for Learning Disabilities and Transition at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
  • Highly commended - Annette Purkins, University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust
  • Highly commended - Karmini McCann, University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust

The Inclusive Team of the Year award 

Candidates for the inclusive team of the year award had to show a collective commitment to the diversity and inclusion agenda within their trust. The team will have aligned their work with the trust’s values, and contributed to either improved access or outcomes for patients, or increased engagement or awareness raising among staff.


Winners:
  • Overall winner -Inclusion and Diversity Corporate Team, University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust  
  • Highly commended - Executive Team, Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust
  • Highly commended - Clinic Q, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
