Equality and inclusion winners announced at the enei Awards 2018

The winners of the Employers Network for Equality and Inclusion (enei) Awards 2018 were announced on 10 July 2018 at a ceremony at The Law Society, London. The awards acknowledge and celebrate those with a commitment to good practice above and beyond legal compliance and innovative approaches that will inspire other employers.

NHS Employers sponsored two awards, the Inclusive Culture award, won by ISS UK and Ireland, and the overall Public Sector award, won by Croydon Council.

Paul Deemer, one of the award judges and head of NHS Employers diversity and inclusion said:

“NHS Employers were proud to once again sponsor the Inclusive Culture and overall Public Sector categories at the enei Awards 2018. The health and social care sector aspires to lead the way in creating inclusive, productive and safe working environments for staff – and we hope that our support of these awards will go some way to encouraging others to do the same.

"The work of Croydon Council, who won the overall Public Sector category, demonstrates an employer who is proactively addressing issues which many others only talk about, such as the challenges of the menopause for their older, female workforce and of being a lone parent for their younger apprentices.

"In term of inclusive cultures, the work of ISS UK and Ireland, who are a facilities management company that work with numerous public sector employers, demonstrated how business critical the inclusion agenda is for all sectors. ISS UK and Ireland have a network of 140 corporate responsibility leaders who champion and spearhead this work for them.

"Congratulations to all of the nominees and winners on the night.”

“The enei Annual Awards recognise the commitment of organisations to achieving diverse and inclusive workplaces, celebrating the teams and individuals who really are making a difference. We have been encouraged by the steps organisations have taken to promote equality and diversity and hope this will encourage other companies to follow their lead.
