Unsocial hours payments

Following a consultation with members, the trade unions have accepted a new system for unsocial hours payments.

The new system, developed by a sub group of the Executive of the NHS staff council, covers enhancements to basic pay for Agenda for Change staff whose standard working week includes evenings, early mornings, weekends, bank holidays and nights.

Employers should assimilate Agenda for Change staff onto the new system of unsocial hours payments with effect from 1 April 2008.

A pay circular detailing the new system is available to download from the pay circulars section of our website, along with the updated Agenda for Change terms and conditions handbook.
