The Review groups
The Ill Health Retirement Benefit and NHS Injury Benefit Review is managed by a project team chaired by David Jordison, now retired from his position as chief executive of Morecambe Bay Primary Care Trust.

Equality Impact Assessment
Equality issues have been a key part of the review of the NHS ill health retirement scheme. The review partners have completed an equality impact assessment of the scheme as part of this work.

Background
Ill health retirement benefits are an integral part of the NHS Pension Scheme. However, it was recognised that an integrated approach to managing ill health retirements was needed, so the current arrangements are being reviewed alongside arrangements for injury benefit and managing sickness absence.
