KSF resources, guidance and support

This section outlines some of the resources, tools and information that may help NHS organisations to apply and raise awareness of the Knowledge and Skills Framework.

Guidance

A document has been produced offering guidance on how to link existing or new learning programmes with the NHS Knowledge and Skills Framework (KSF). The guidance should be used by learning programme providers who wish to demonstrate the broad or specific links between the programme content and learning outcomes to KSF dimensions.

Materials

We have produced the following materials in partnership:

  • Two essential guides
  • A DVD entitled 'Embedding the NHS KSF'. The DVD includes a ministerial introduction from Ann Keen and features a range of NHS organisations from across the country talking about their experience of using the KSF.

Presentations

  • ยท PowerPoint presentation - An overview of the KSF. This presentation is useful to give a general overview of the KSF, including KSF outlines and KSF development reviews.
  • PowerPoint presentation - Embedding the KSF. This presentation offers some examples of where the introduction of a formal personal development scheme, like the NHS KSF, has provided significant benefits for employers, and at how the KSF can be used to deliver similar results.

e-KSF and the national library of post outlines

The e-KSF is a web based toolkit, funded centrally by the four UK Government Health Departments. The e-KSF system holds the national library of post outlines, a database of real examples of outlines that can be downloaded and adapted by users to reflect their own posts. For further information visit the e-KSF website.
