The Pensions Division is now leading on implementation and has produced a range of materials for employers and staff that are all available on their website.

Full details

  • The final agreement - this is the joint agreement between NHS Employers and the NHS trade unions that outlines all the changes in detail.
  • Employer summary - this has been produced in partnership with the NHS trade unions and gives employers a summary of all the key changes, including the new contribution rates for staff. Please see information for employers or Pension Division's website for the most up-to-date contribution table that reflects current Agenda for Change pay rates.
  • Letter from the review chairs - this is a letter from the review chairs, issued jointly to all employers with the summary (above).
  • FAQs - frequently asked questions about the scheme changes, background to the review, the consultation in 2006 and implementation.
  • Key dates - a timeline outlining when the changes will be introduced.
  • Case studies - showing how the changes will work in practice for both Schemes.

  • Impact assessment - details of the equality impact assessment of both Schemes carried out by the review partners.
  • Consultation 2006 - a summary of both employer and staff views from the last consultation on the final proposals.

Assessing equality issues
Equality issues, and ensuring that the new Schemes meet current legislative requirements, have been a core part of the pension review. As part of this work, the review partners have completed an equality impact assessment of the Schemes for both existing and new members.

Consultation 2006
In 2006, the review partners asked employers and staff for their views on the jointly agreed, proposed changes to the Pension Scheme. This page has more details on the responses and the consultation process.
