Contract changes for 2006/07

 

Following negotiations, NHS Employers and the General Practitioners Committee agreed changes to the contract for 2006/07.

The key changes are outlined below:

  • no inflationary uplift for 2006/07
  • new clinical areas and higher thresholds in the Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF)
  • new investment in Directed Enhanced Services to support national priorities for patient services
  • the introduction of a new patient experience survey which, for the first time, links patient experience to practice awards
  • a new system for paying dispensing doctors that removes the link between pay and drug costs
