This page provides more information about the Healthcare Commission annual health check. The Healthcare Commission is the independent regulator of healthcare for both the NHS and independent sector in England. Through the annual health check it assesses whether NHS organisations are meeting the Department of Health's core standards which are part of the Department's Standards for Better Health. They include employment standards. From April 2008, the NHS Employment Check Standards will replace the safer recruitment guidance against which trusts' employment practices were assessed as part of the 2007/08 annual health check. For more information on the annual health check 2008/09 and what else will be assessed, visit the Healthcare Commission's website. Last reviewed 31 Mar 2008 |
