![]() The Occupational Health Smart Card (OHSC) was introduced in 2001, and now has over 60,000 hospital doctors and over 10,000 medical students using the system. The aim of the card is to strengthen and streamline pre-employment health checks, improve the working lives of doctors in training and support patient safety. They enable a doctors' personal occupational healthinformation to transfer, via the OHSC system to occupational health departments as a doctor in training rotates. The transfer of this information assists the health clearance process and ensures that doctors do not undergo unnecessary procedures and checks which may delay their starting work in a trust. The system has expanded since its inception to include doctors in other grades and medical students on application. The majority of doctors in training will receive their OHSC on graduation from medical school. Doctors in training and other grades can also obtain their card by downloading and completing the application form from the doctors' portal at www.ohsc-uk.com The following supporting documents are available:
