On 27th July Chief Executives and SHA Workforce Finance Leads were notified of the core MPET allocations. This also included funding for other activities which have been issued as part of the MPET allocations. On a similar basis to last year £13 million has been allocated for the Primary Care Development Scheme. This funding will enable SHA's to support the use of the Primary Care Development Scheme and the Flexible Careers Scheme to address local workforce and service priorities:
The priorities are to:
- Improve recruitment and retention in shortage specialties and under-doctored areas
- Enable doctors to take career break to return to practice
- Meet existing commitments to Doctors on the Flexible Careers Scheme
