Supporting change

These pages contain of a suite of materials which aim to help employers support their staff through change. They have been developed with NHS trusts and staff organisations. Additionally there are good practice case studies available in our knowledge base.

In particular the materials focus on:

  • ensuring that staff who are affected by change programmes across the country are treated equitably and fairly
  • helping trusts to avoid the loss of staff through redundancy wherever possible so that they can retain valuable skills and experience in the service
  • supporting trusts in facilitating redeployment of staff elsewhere
  • ensuring that where redundancies are unavoidable information is shared effectively and best HR practice is followed
  • reducing the costs of recruitment by maximising use of the free e-recruitment service NHS Jobs
  • helping trusts to manage the costs of temporary staff and supporting the development of new roles and new ways of working
  • setting out the standards expected of trusts during the change process and good practice in handling organisational change.
