NHS Employers is committed to supporting NHS organisations to improve workforce productivity. Our current work programme in this area includes establishing employer representation on a national workforce productivity forum, identifying and sharing good practice and development of a set of agreed and appropriate indicators for measuring workforce productivity.

Public services productivity article

We have highlighted a 2006 report on public service productivity, which includes helpful examples of how productivity estimates are being developed to measure performance improvements in the NHS. This is the second report in a series from the UK Centre for Measurement of Government Activity (UKCeMGA).

Helping you to implement an effective e-rostering system

We have published a guide to help employers successfully implement an e-rostering system to achieve improved workforce productivity. For the first time this will give trusts details of e-rostering systems available, along with the costs and number of trusts actively using them in the UK at present, to help you to make the best decision for your own trust.

Workforce productivity forum established

NHS Employers has established a national workforce productivity forum with representation from across all NHS organisations and key stakeholders including DH, Electronic Staff Records and the NHS Information Centre. The forum will be the leading voice for employers on workforce productivity. The terms of reference set out the vision for the forum.

NHS Information Centre ESR events

The NHS Information Centre is holding a series of roadshows on electronic staff records (ESR) based on improving data quality, collection and reporting mechanisms. The workshops will be interesting to HR staff, particularly those who manage the use of ESR. To find out dates and times please see the Information Centre's website.
