Training package

28 / 8 / 2009 10.44am

This page contains information on a training package that has been designed to be delivered in one day.

Each part of the training package can be expanded or condensed to meet the particular needs of your organisation.  Please note the content reflects the toolkit as published in January 2005. It contains the following:

Introduction to the training day

This session provides an opportunity to introduce speakers, delegates, The training day format and identify delegate expectations for learning outcomes.

Session 1 - Setting the context

This session is designed to give clinical managers an understanding of the overall direction of travel of the NHS as set out in the NHS Plan and PPF, and how this links in with local issues.

Session 2 - Effective use of data in job planning

This session aims to help delegates understand how a systematic review of all relevant available information can assist the development of job plans.

Session 3 - Objective setting

This session provides a generic introduction to setting objectives and the context in which to consider the process as part of consultant job planning.

Session 4 - Achieving the benefits of effective job planning

This session is designed to help delegates see how they can generate benefits from more effective job planning - for patients, for consultants and for the employing organisation.

Session 5 - Negotiating skills

This session aims to help delegates understand negotiating skills. It is not about the process of negotiation for consultant job planning or objective setting meetings, but is more a generic section on 'how to negotiate' on a one-to-one basis.
