Developments to the Electronic Staff Record

Working on a tablet

07 / 7 / 2015 5.27pm

Following user consultation, the NHS Electronic Staff Record (ESR) central team is currently working on an extensive programme of system changes called the ESR enhancement project

These changes will be delivered through 16 distinct work packages with rollout scheduled to take place between February 2016 and May 2017.  Work has already started on three work packages including development of the new portal and user interface (for Oracle Learning Management (OLM) and self service).

Effectively managing your workforce supply is essential if the NHS is to meet the changing healthcare needs of the population. ESR is used by 99 per cent of NHS trusts and holds the data for about 1.4 million staff. ESR can help you plan, recruit, and retain your workforce. Find out how by visiting our NHS Employers ESR webpages.

Further information about the ESR enhancement project can be found in the first issue of the Enhance bulletin, which provides details on progress to date, as well as future planned activity. ESR users can access this bulletin through the ESR Knowledgebase (ESR Kbase).
