The Streamlining Programme team has created a number of tools and resources, to support setting up the programme and encourage engagement with organisations. 

On this page you will find video case studies and written case studies from London trusts involved in the Streamlining Programme.

More documents relating to the programme will be added in the coming weeks, including template documents that can be adapted locally.

Video case studies 

Gareth Jones, Assistant Director for Workforce at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, discusses his involvement with the Streamlining Programme from the start and why he feels the programme is so important. 

Angela Huxham Director of Workforce and Mary Currie, Associate Director of Workforce Planning, at Kings College Hospital London, outline how the Streamlining Programme began, and how the trust first began looking into how to transfer junior doctors’ information more efficiently between trusts.

Nina Singh, Director of Workforce Development at West Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust, explains how the trust achieved improvements in StatMan training compliance and helped to develop the system that supports this workstream within the Streamlining Programme.

David Wherrett, Workforce Director at University College Hospitals London, outlines the positive impact that the Streamlining Programme has had on the trust’s StatMan training compliance, employment checks, and time to hire.

Marita Brown, Head of Learning and Development and University College Hospitals London NHS Foundation Trust, discusses the trust’s involvement in the development of the core skills framework and the benefits they have seen from their involvement in the programme.

Raj Chana, Director of HR and Organisational Development at Barnet and Chase Farm Hospitals NHS Trust explains how the Streamlining Programme led to the trust receiving an award for their improvements in StatMan training compliance.

The 5 point plan – Barnet and Chase Farm Hospitals NHS Trust

Barnet and Chase Farm Hospitals NHS Trust has significantly reduced the amount of staff time spent completing statutory and mandatory training, saving £750,000 per year while increasing staff compliance and the quality of training.

Speeding up the recruitment process – Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust

Through using factual references, as outlined in the updated NHS Employers Employment Check Standards, Central London Community Healthcare Trust has seen the length of time needed to gather references fall from five weeks to two weeks, allowing new recruits to begin work much faster.

Streamlining employment checks – The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust

The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust was one of the trusts leading on a review of the NHS Employers Employment Check Standards. The project has reduced the average time to hire by over six weeks. 

Streamlining statutory and mandatory training – West London Mental Health Trust

West London Mental Health Trust used the Streamlining Programme’s 5 point plan to ensure the right training was being delivered to the right staff at the right time, freeing up staff to spend more time with patients.
