The focus of the London streamlining programme has been to bring people together to compare performance, share best practices, overcome issues and work collectively to drive change that leads to improved efficiency and patient safety.
In doing this, the programme in London has saved millions of pounds and improved efficiency in three key areas, they are:
- junior doctors' rotations
- employment checks
- statutory and mandatory (StatMan) training.
The streamlining programme has, through addressing these components made the NHS a safer and better place for staff and patients.
London's 39 trusts have worked together to benchmark performance and share best practices. A result of this is increased performance in training compliance, reduced duplication and a dramatic reduction in costs. Simultaneously it has delivered higher quality, improved efficiency and greater productivity.
