The British Medical Association, Health Education England, the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges and NHS Employers worked in partnership to deliver four regional workshops for specialty and associate specialist (SAS) doctors, looking at professional development and sharing good practice across the country. These took place in March 2015 in Leeds, Birmingham, Taunton and London.
The target audience was SAS doctors, SAS tutors, SAS associate deans, learning and development leads, medical directors and clinical directors.
The workshops focused on identifying barriers and solutions to effective development, Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration, credentialing, opportunities for SAS doctors in leadership roles and sharing local good practice.
The full slides from the day's workshop can be downloaded here.
We conducted a survey
of SAS doctors to inform the content of the workshops. It focused on current development, career aspirations, barriers and
solutions. We are working to produce some guidance as a result of the workshops and survey.
