Emotional wellbeing toolkit

No matter how you are feeling, there is a range of resources you can access to support you. If you are having a good day you can find ideas to help you to maintain it, or if you are feeling on the edge or on go slow, there are resources to support you to improve your emotional health.

You may be feeling overwhelmed and out of control, you may be finding it hard to think through problems, often making rushed decisions and losing patience.

  • How to be mentally healthy at work is a booklet from the Bank Workers Charity about staying well at work, whether you are trying to maintain a healthy working life, experiencing work stress or trying to make a success of your job in spite of mental health problems.
  • NHS Choices web page about dealing with panic attacks has useful information, including symptoms and ways to beat panic attacks.
  • Mind's guide to dealing with anger provides great tips for dealing with anger, and how others can help you.

  • NHS Choices has a collection of videos on mental health and the treatment and support available. Real people and experts discuss a range of topics, including depression, anxiety, panic, bipolar disorder, phobias and OCD.
  • The lift your mood videos from NHS Choices signpost a variety of ways to improve your mental wellbeing. Watch real people and experts share their tips and advice on staying happy as well as healthy.
  • NHS Choices says there is scientific evidence which points to five steps that we can take to improve our mental wellbeing. If you give them a try, you may feel happier, more positive and able to get the most from your life.

  • Moodzone from NHS choices has a mood assessment quiz, tips and guides to achieve better mental wellbeing.

  • The Bank Workers Charity guide to stress management describes the proven skills that you can develop to manage stress. These skills can help you to remain calm and effective in high pressure situations, and help avoid the physical, mental and behavioural problems of long term stress.
  • A guide to understanding stress from the Bank Workers Charity aims to help you understand what stress is and how to recognise the signs and symptoms in yourself and others.
