The NHS Employers organisation provides feedback on behalf of employers to the GMC to proposed changes to the specialty medical training curricula.
The GMC receives applications for major changes to the specialty training curricula from the relevant Royal College. NHS Employers, after consultation with the service, provides feedback to the GMC on the proposed changes.
The Royal College’s submissions provide evidence of how any changes will impact on the teaching, learning and experience from the perspective of the trainee, trainer, assessors and the service.
The GMC seeks input from the specialty lead dean and NHS employers on the content of applications for major curriculum or assessment system changes. The feedback is an important part of the decision making process as the GMC panel of associates will take into account this analysis when evaluating the submission.
