Leaving employment

When a doctor leaves your organisation:

  • check that the doctor has updated the GMC that the doctor no longer has a prescribed connection to your organisation on GMC Connect and inform the GMC if necessary
  • provide the doctor with copies of their appraisal outcome reports, or ARCP forms in the case of doctors in training, and retain copies that the RO can share if requested by the doctor's new RO
  • retain appraisal records for at least five years
  • the RO should consider whether there is any information relating to concerns about a doctor’s fitness to practise, including investigations, formal action plans and remediation, which needs to be transferred to the doctor’s next RO or to the GMC.
