The NMC has committed to introduce a proportionate and effective model of revalidation by the end of 2015. On the 6 January 2014 the NMC launched part one of a two part statutory consultation on revalidation and the Code. The consultation provided an opportunity for employers to have their say on how the policy intention can be shaped for practical implementation. We have collated and analysed all the information gathered from the above activities and submitted a collective response to the NMC on behalf of employers in the NHS in England. You can view the response here.
On 19th May 2014 the NMC launched the second part of this consultation. We will be looking at the detail of this second phase and engaging with employers throughout the consultation period. There is some useful reading that you can access now on the proposals from the NMC here. You can find more information including the draft revised Code on the NMC's website and we will continue to engage with you and update you through the NHS Employers Workforce bulletin.
As part of the consultation it is important that you engage with your board and your workforce in partnership with your staff side representatives.
