#jabathon ran from 8 – 12 October 2018. Thank you to all the NHS and social care staff who shared their reasons for getting the flu jab and nominating two other people to get theirs using the hashtag #jabathon.

Highlights from the week included the following.
  • The #jabathon hashtag trended during the week.
  • Danny Mortimer, chief executive of NHS Employers, wrote a blog about the importance of flu vaccination in protecting all healthcare staff, himself and his loved ones.
  • Our #jabathon film, Sam and Helen’s story was released – you can also view the film at the bottom of this page.
  • Ruth Warden, assistant director at NHS Employers, shared her perspective of being an at-risk patient susceptible to the flu and how important it is for staff to have their vaccinations in this blog.
  • Craig Bradley, associate chief nurse and deputy director of infection prevention & control at Gloucestershire Hospitals took over the @NHSflufighter account for a day, and tweeted to show all the great things they were getting up to during #jabathon week.
  • We had tweets from TV doctors Dr. Sara Kayat and Dr. Hilary JonesSuzanne Rastrick, Helen Donovan from the RCN and Jane Cummings from NHS England, who shared their reasons for getting their flu jab.
  • Many of you showed your support by adding a #jabathon twibbon to your twitter profiles.
  • NHS and social care staff tweeted their reasons for getting the flu jab using our #jabathon sign. There were over 2,600 tweets using the hashtag #jabathon sent during the week with over 8.2 million impressions overall. Our #jabathon film follows the story of Helen who fell severely ill with flu after she didn’t get her flu jab unlike her healthcare worker identical twin Samantha. The film highlights the importance of getting the flu jab, particularly for health and social care professionals.
