Find out how the Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust used a Staff Role Model campaign to inspire and engage with staff. The campaign allowed staff to tell their story, and despite the challenges they faced, highlighted the progress they had made both personally and professionally.
The case study features a role model called Lisa, who came out as a transgender woman in 2009 and has been living full time as a woman since 2014. Her biggest challenge happened whilst working at the trust, when she started her transition. Two years later because of the support of the trust, she has taken an active role in the trust to make changes for the better and to help support others like herself.
The campaign highlighted how the power of role models cannot be underestimated and how having a role model in the department can completely change the outlook of those around them.
