This case study looks at the staff engagement work undertaken by the Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Trust (CWP) to improve its appraisal process.
The publication explores how the trust has listened to staff to introduced a system of quality appraisals, built around person-centred conversations, to improve compliance rates and staff experience. It also shows how the trust has seen overall improvements in its NHS Staff Survey results between 2015 and 2017.
Highlights of the study include:
- how the trust improved appraisal compliance rates to 98 per cent
- the organisation's efforts to improve paperwork which facilitates quality conversations
- improvements which ensured better appraisal reporting
- the introduction of a quality review process.
