Dorset Healthcare - improving culture around data sharing

In this case study, we look at the improved rates of data sharing established at Dorset Healthcare University NHS Foundation Trust.

Over a period of ten years, the trust:

  • created an open culture encouraging staff to discuss their support needs and protected characteristics with their managers.
  • improved staff engagement and understanding around the importance of declaring data
  • established processes to ensure conversations around protected characteristics continued through appraisal processes
  • set up supportive staff networks to support and celebrate diversity.
