In this case study, we look at the improved rates of data sharing established at Dorset Healthcare University NHS Foundation Trust.
Over a period of ten years, the trust:
- created an open culture encouraging staff to discuss their support needs and protected characteristics with their managers.
- improved staff engagement and understanding around the importance of declaring data
- established processes to ensure conversations around protected characteristics continued through appraisal processes
- set up supportive staff networks to support and celebrate diversity.
