We have produced a new resource designed to help NHS organisations:
- assess their progress in implementing the charter for specialty and associate specialist (SAS) doctors
- identify areas requiring improvement
- create an action plan.
The SAS Charter sets out what SAS doctors can expect from their employers and what employers can expect of them.
What is it?
The evaluation toolkit is an online resource which is organised into different sections to check your understanding and implementation progress in the following areas:
- minimum conditions of employment
- appraisal and revalidation
- involvement in management structure.
Who should complete this?
This evaluation toolkit should be completed by members of your trust's local negotiating committee using the data collected, via our new monitoring tool, from clinical departments within the organisation.
This process should be repeated regularly to track improvements and identify where further development is needed in the short, medium and long term.
How will the results be used?
The findings should be used to develop an action plan to implement the principles of the SAS Charter in the short, medium and long term.
