SAS Charter monitoring tool

26 / 11 / 2018

We have produced a new resource to support clinical departments with the implementation of the charter for specialty and associate specialist (SAS) doctors.

What is it?

The monitoring tool will help you assess the current progress in meeting the different principles of the charter, identify areas requiring improvement and create an action plan.

Who should complete this?

It should be completed by clinical directors/ SAS tutors alongside SAS doctors within each of the clinical departments. The process should be repeated regularly to track improvements and identify where further development is needed in the short, medium and long term.

How will the results be used?

The findings should be shared at local negotiating committee (LNC) meetings who will collate the results to make an overall assessment of the wider organisation and then complete the SAS Charter evaluation toolkit. This approach underpins the partnership ethos of the joint negotiating committee for SAS doctors, and ensures that actions have the support of the workforce.
