Staff engagement and its relationship to patient experience: common themes

30 / 11 / 2018

This document, written by the Institute for Employment Studies (IES), pulls together common themes found in four case studies focusing on staff engagement actions at high performing trusts in the north east of England.

NHS Employers commissioned IES to develop the case studies and this publication highlights the common themes between the organisations and lessons for other employers considering taking forward this area of work.

You can take a look at the case studies on our website:

The IES is an independent, apolitical, international centre of research and consultancy in employment policy and human resource issues. The author of this document is Dilys Robinson, a researcher on employment issues who has worked extensively on staff engagement issues in the NHS.

NHS Employers is aware that there are other organisations that have undertaken work on these issues. If your trust has useful experience to share in these areas please get in touch with Steven Weeks.
