The statistics in this updated ethnicity infographic show the breakdown of ethnicity in the current NHS workforce with a comparison to the national average of England’s working population.
Organisations are encouraged to undertake a similar analysis to help them with future workforce planning, and take a more detailed look at what this means for them in terms of the training, development, recruitment and retention of their black, Asian and minority ethnic staff.
Undertaking this analysis will also be useful as all NHS organisations are required to demonstrate how they are addressing race equality issues in a range of staffing areas through the Workforce Race Equality Standard (WRES).
