Maximising NHS Staff Survey data at a local level

29 / 07 / 2019

This briefing offers some top tips for maximising use of data from the NHS Staff Survey.

The document builds on previous work around making best use of the data collected from the national survey, but this time focuses on use of the survey data alongside local efforts and data collection within NHS organisations. It explores the wide range of data NHS organisations collect, how they collect it, and how it can then be used with the results of the NHS Staff Survey to give better answers.

In the briefing, trusts are asked to consider among other things:

  • the use of a range of formats and communication tools to share messages about the survey
  • using crowdsourcing technology to continue dialogue with staff
  • making data accessible for local level managers to use in local plans
  • using infographics to make the data more understandable.

A case study which covers how NHS Staff Survey data can be used at local level has also been published by NHS Employers.
