Natalie Gardner, reservist and physiotherapist, shares how she is able to maintain her two careers and explains why one complements the other.
Speaking at the first Armed Forces and the NHS conference, Natalie, who is 2nd Lieutenant in 335 Medical Evacuation Regiment and an advanced critical care practitioner at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, talks about the importance of having a supportive employer in both roles.
In 2018, Natalie received the prestigious MacRobert Sword award following eight weeks of officer training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. The Sword is awarded to the officer cadet who has completed this training and is deemed to be at the top of their graduating class.
Having support from colleagues and management in both roles has been key to Natalie's success. Below, hear her discuss why it's important for the relationship between the NHS and the Armed Forces to be in harmony in order for people to excel in their careers.
