NHS Employers' submission to Migration Advisory Committee on shortage occupation list

03 / 07 / 2020

Read our response to the Migration Advisory Committee's (MAC) call for evidence on the shortage occupation list.

The committee is particularly focusing on medium-skill occupations in this review, particularly those those requiring RQF 3-5 qualifications (A-levels and equivalents).

Our response to this consultation has been informed by workforce data alongside our strong engagement with employers on the domestic and overseas recruitment challenges faced, largely over the last year as opposed to any targeted engagement over recent months due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

It highlights the importance of current RQF6+ roles remaining on the shortage occupation list, as well as ongoing concerns about supply routes for the social care workforce.

We have also submitted a response on behalf of the Cavendish Coalition.
