COVID-19 sources of external staffing

The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) has created a temporary COVID-19 register.

The NMC is inviting nurses who have left the register in the last three years to re-join, as well as overseas nurses who have not yet passed their objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) but have met the following criteria:

  • Be living in the UK.
  • Have passed the Computer Based Test (CBT).
  • Have had their qualifications, language, health and character checked by the NMC.
  • Have been booked in for an OSCE.

Further information, including eligibility criteria can be found on the NMC website

In addition, overseas nurses recently recruited to the UK have been provided with extended timescales (31 December 2020) to pass their objective structured clinical examination (OSCE).
