Deploying temporarily registered professionals
In pharmacy, the regulator has announced a temporary register during the COVID-19 emergency. This allows pharmacy professionals who had voluntarily removed themselves from the register or were removed for non-renewal within the last three years, to re-join the register. More information can be found on the General Pharmacy Council website. A survey hosted by NHS England and NHS Improvement allows those returning to the register to re-join the NHS.
Deploying undergraduate pharmacy students
Guidance has been published by Health Education England (HEE) and partners on student redeployment. This provides a forum where undergraduate pharmacy students can support the workforce. More information can be found in this document from HEE, dated 9 April, pharmacy student deployment joint guidance (PDF).
Deploying pre-registration pharmacists and pharmacy technicians
The assessment for pre-registration trainee pharmacists has been postponed. The regulator has sent a letter to the trainees and tutors regarding provisional registration and the registration assessment and they are working with partners to develop the proposal further.
Guidance for the redeployment of pre-registration trainee pharmacy technicians to Nightingale hospitals and guidance for the redeployment of pre-registration trainee pharmacists to Nightingale hospitals can be found on HEE’s web section: COVID-19 information for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
