As part of the national work on the workforce disability equality programme, NHS Employers diversity and inclusion team have organised four share and learn webinars to help NHS organisations implement the NHS Workforce Disability Equality Standard (WDES).
Aimed at senior leaders and board members it will highlight the role they can play in advancing workforce disability by:
improving their understanding of the collective role of the board
providing clarity on their governance role and the NHS Workforce Disability Equality Standard
sharing activities and approaches that can be adopted to demonstrate board effectiveness in overseeing the WDES implementation
highlighting the personal contribution they can make as a leader/board member.

The WDES came into force on 1 April 2019 and is a set of specific measures (metrics) that will enable NHS organisations to compare the experiences of disabled and non-disabled staff.
