NHS Employers’ Step into Health programme and Armed Forces reservists programme proudly co-hosted our third annual Armed Forces conference on 15 March 2022, which took place virtually and was themed ‘our future together’.
Read highlights from the day here.
The NHS and the Armed Forces have a long-standing relationship which is more evident now than ever as a result of the cooperative work carried out during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Last year's conference celebrated the close working relationship between the two services, highlighting the Armed Forces contribution to continuing NHS services through the pandemic and support of the vaccination programme, as well as exploring the range of job roles available in the NHS and the in-work support available to our Armed Forces community.
For 2022, the conference explored NHS priorities and policy changes linked to developments in the Ministry of Defence, including the new Armed Forces Act and Reserve Forces Review 2030. Delegates heard from individuals with lived experience and learned good practice from some of our top NHS champions and recruiters.
Key speakers included:
- representative from the Defence Medical Services, Walking With The Wounded and the Royal Foundation
- NHS Armed Forces medical reservists
- NHS Armed Forces reservist champions
- members of the Armed Forces community who have successfully transitioned into NHS roles.
Audience
We welcomed NHS directors and managers, Armed Forces and reservist champions, recruiters, HR representatives and all colleagues with a responsibility for widening participation, equality, diversity and inclusion in the NHS.
